Date: May 22, 2020 

There will be a Committee of the Whole meeting on Wednesday, May 27th from 4:00pm to 5:30pm by Zoom. 

The purpose of the meeting is to gather collaborative input from administrators, teachers, and families regarding how to think about, anticipate, and plan for potential Fall 2020 scenarios. While no guidance is yet available on what the next school year will look like, Medford Public Schools is taking a proactive approach to discuss possible scenarios with its critical stakeholders. The School Committee is hosting these sessions to collaborate and share ideas that will help inform upcoming budget decisions. 

Pursuant to Governor Baker’s March 12, 2020 Order Suspending Certain Provisions of the Open Meeting Law, G.L. c. 30A, §18, and the Governor’s March 15, 2020 Order imposing strict limitations on the number of people that may gather in one place, this meeting of the Medford School Committee will be conducted via remote participation to the greatest extent possible. Specific information and the general guidelines for remote participation by members of the public and/or parties with a right and/or requirement to attend this meeting can be found on the City of Medford website, at www.medfordma.org. For this meeting, members of the public who wish to listen or watch the meeting may do so by accessing the meeting link contained herein. No in-person attendance of members of the public will be permitted, but every effort will be made to ensure that the public can adequately access the proceedings in real-time, via technological means. In the event that we are unable to do so, despite best efforts, we will post on the City of Medford or Medford Community Media websites an audio or video recording, transcript, or other comprehensive record of proceedings as soon as possible after the meeting.

Fall Scenarios, Session I, Roundtable The School Committee is hosting these sessions to collaborate and share ideas that will help inform upcoming budget decisions. Discussions will include: 

  • What is working well, or not, today? 
  • Technology (Student, Teacher, Infrastructure/Access), 
  • School day model (Before/After), 
  • Athletics/Extracurricular Activities/PTO Activities
